Well kids, Ken Wilson is back after a brief holiday hiatus. Truth be told, Mr. Wilson spent his late December getting some rest and relaxation on the Hawaii beach front. 7 years removed from the broadcasting limelight, the sand waitresses still get a kick out of hearing Kennie say, "Oh Baby..." after bringing him a fresh margarita. It just never gets old.

Regardless, Kennie is back. Let's see what he thought of last night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Outcome: Blues 6-1 win over Columbus (gamelink)

The Skinny:
Coupled with previous shutouts against Carolina and Detroit, Manny Legace set a Blues regular season shutout record by not allowing a goal in 186:15, while Andy McDonald had two goals in Tuesday night's 6-1 win over Columbus.

Blues Miss Point After Touchdown:
The Blues scored 6 goals for the first time in nearly a year. They scored 6 against the LA Kings on Saturday, January 13, 2006 in a 6-5 home victory...and 6 again against the Anaheim Ducks three days later on January 16, 2006 in the midst of the their biggest winning streak of the season (4 games).

Standings:
With a win last night, the Blues moved from 10th place to 8th place in the Western Conference. They currently sit tied with Colorado @ 47 points. The Blues play Dallas (52 points, 4th in Western Conference) on Thursday, and have a chance to make up some ground in the standings. Side Note: With only 40 games played, the Blues have played two games less than most other teams in the Conference.

Best Combination of Opposition Last Names:
Columbus forwards Jody Shelley and Kris Beech. Shelley Beech. Very nice. Along the same lines, mixing Kris Beech with forward Jared Boll creates "Beech Boll". Take that, foreign countries. "Vyborny Novotny" doesn't even make sense.
Youngest players:
Blues: Erik Johnson (19, born March 21, 1988) / Jackets: Goalie Steve Mason (19, born May 29, 1988)

Three Stars:
Manny Legace (STL), Andy McDonald (STL), Erik Johnson (STL)

Up Next:
Dallas Stars @ St. Louis :: Thursday, January 10th (TV: FSN-MW)

Recap:
With a win last night, the Blues moved into playoff contention again on Tuesday night. Ken Wilson likes to see 6 goals from the Blues - who ranked 2nd to last in the league in team scoring before Tuesday night's game. Manny Legace, last week's NHL Player of the Week, is the hottest goalie in the league. Lots of scoring and hot goalie equals 4 Kennies.
