It's not everyday that you see a skinny white dude with corn-rows. It's not everyday you hear about a Major League pitcher that serenades his teammates with his acoustic guitar. That's special.
Because of this, we here at the SportsMag take great pride in following the trails and tribulations of the magnificent Bronson Arroyo.
As previously documented, in between conditioning his golden locks and pitching for the cellar-dwelling Cincinnati Reds, Bronson Arroyo has been going on tour and breaking the barrier between the ball diamond and the concert stage.
But, not anymore - at least for the time being. Bronson is unplugged - according to the local ABC News in Cincinnati.
In lieu of pitching struggles this season Arroyo had been putting on concerts but has decided to cancel a July 1 venue at Covington's Madison Theater.
Arroyo said he needs to focus more on baseball.
Arroyo hasn't won a game since May 6 and has clearly not looked like the pitcher the team rewarded with a new contract in the offseason.
Usually, there are stipulations in professional contracts against players performing dangerous acts away from their sport's respective playing surface. No skydiving, no rollerblading, etc. A clause against power cords might be tough for any agent to argue.
We haven't heard any of Bronson's tunes, but we're still sticking to the claim that it must be pretty good considering he played the guitar in the Boston locker room in front of Manny and Ortiz and arrived in Cincinnati with all of his limbs. That says something.
